Why I Invest in Accessories
As you’re building an intentional wardrobe, one important idea to consider is the concept of investing in your accessories. By doing so, you' may actually find that you can keep the amount of items in your closet low, while still elevating your style and creating unique and stylish outfits each day. Here are a few examples of accessories I’ve invested in that I tend to gravitate towards consistently.
Well-made footwear. You don’t have to spend hundreds or thousands to incorporate high quality footwear into your wardrobe. I have found I would prefer to buy a couple pairs of shoes at a slightly higher price point than many at a lower, fast-fashion price. Not only are you able to shop more sustainably and reducing the need to purchase more often when these cheaper alternatives wear out, you are likely reducing the negative health impacts of wearing lower-quality shoes.
High-quality jewelry. If you’ve been around for a bit of time, you’ve probably recognized my love for turquoise statement rings. I find that these types of high quality jewelry really elevate a simple outfit.
Statement hats. Another example of a must-have accessory for me is my statement hats. You’ve probably noticed I wear mine on a near-daily basis. I have found that this is one area that is worth it to invest a bit more. Hats are a great way to really make a statement; when I wear mine, I know its always an eye-catching element to my outfit that takes it up a level.
Bags and purses. I am not one to reach for designer bags or purses; however, I have found a few statement bags that are still neutral and easy to wear that really elevate a simple outfit. My three favorites were under $50 each, but the uniqueness of them adds textures and another interesting element to my outfits.
By having these elevated pieces, I know that I can pair my classic jeans and favorite sweater, yet statement jewelry, a hat, and high quality footwear really make a statement, and by alternating these elevated accessories, you can make different looks while still wearing the same garments. You can really make your basic looks stand out when you have these accessories on hand!
