How to Rebuild Your Wardrobe
If you have found yourself trying to refresh your wardrobe, but it still feels like your personal style doesn’t fully represent you — you may be considering the process of rebuilding your wardrobe.
As we grow and change, so does our wardrobes - and that’s okay! Sometimes we want to adapt our style preferences to better reflect who we are and our personal brand.
While I don’t encourage completely starting over from scratch with your wardrobe often, sometimes we want to change directions - here are a few tips that I have used when navigating this style change!
1. Begin with a closet detox. (Link to declutter email series). I enjoy decluttering my wardrobe on a frequent basis, and this is a great place to start to really assess which items in our wardrobes bring us joy, reflect our personal styles, and truly belong in our wardrobes.
2. Launch a Pinterest board to collect inspiration, visualize where you want to be so you have a roadmap for success.
3. Make sure your new style direction fits your lifestyle. I’m often drawn to different styles as aspirational, but they need some tweaking and blending to fit my lifestyle. I work from home, and am generally a homebody — so too many styles that are glitzy and dressy don’t fit in, even though I like them.
4. Set up a fashion rack in your room or office, and place a few items on there that represent and reflect your aspirational style. Try rotating these items into your daily style frequently — that way you get a taste of the look you are going for!
5. Create a wishlist for your dream wardrobe. Part of sustainably changing the direction of your style is knowing that you cannot feasibly purchase a whole new wardrobe to match your new desires. Instead, I like to make a list of items that I would love to own, list the cost, and create a monthly plan to add these items in gradually.
