2nd + 3rd Trimester Recap
In honor of being near the end of my pregnancy, I wanted to write a little recap to document my thoughts + memories of this special season. The last few months have been so busy and full and I can’t believe how quickly the pregnancy has come and almost gone. As I’m writing this, we are just over three weeks away from our due date which is kind of unbelievable! Here are some of the highs, lows, favorites, and things I’ve purchased for baby in the last few months.
I’ll start off with the lows — because it has been an interesting few months to say the least. Thankfully, baby boy (and myself) are totally fine and healthy! For starters, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes which came as a bit of a shock — I wasn’t really familiar with what GDM was, and truthfully had to educate myself a lot in navigating the necessary changes. All in all, it’s been totally manageable and not too much of a challenge once I got used to it, but I do miss dessert (especially Crumbl cookies and Braum’s ice cream, lol) + chips and queso ;) I also got COVID for the first time while pregnant. Luckily, it was very mild and I got over it quickly. Lastly, we have had a lot of ups and downs with our job situations and it’s requiring a pretty big move away from Texas and even further from my family - so there’s just been a lot of hard/stressful things going on in life. Thankfully though, the pregnancy itself has been pretty smooth which is a huge blessing.
Now for the highs - first off, as a result of the Gestational Diabetes, I was monitored more closely, which meant more check ins and ultrasounds so it was extra fun to get to see his little face more. We had several really sweet showers hosted by friends and family - I was just so blown away by the love and generosity of all the people in our lives! We took some really fun photos in our house to celebrate this stage of life (I’m even more grateful for these photos now that I have to leave behind our cute little home), I finished working for the time being which was a strange feeling, watched a lot of football, walked a lot of miles at the lake by our house, and had a great experience getting to know and work with our doulas! All in all, this pregnancy has just flown by and I just can’t wait to meet him.
Now for some fun bits!
Some of my favorite things I’ve bought for him lately — this embroidered sweater with his name on it, this baby book for his first year, and this book for his entire childhood (I cry just looking at them - if you’re a new mom you should totally get these for your baby!)
Some of my must haves for this stage — these Madewell maternity jeans, Chomps sticks (my fav snack for GD but will honestly keep having them around because they are so easy!), Ilia tinted serum for easy makeup days, my favorite cozy slippers,
I’ve been busy making freezer meals, cleaning, organizing and prepping for our little guy — just counting down the days now until he arrives. I’m so thankful to have the honor of being this little guy’s mom and consider that the greatest blessing of all time!
