10 Fall Capsule Wardrobe Items for Fall + Freebie!

“The important thing about capsule wardrobes that you should remember…these are personal wardrobes built with intentionality. My must-have pieces might not be the same as yours, but use these types of articles as a guide as you build your dream wardrobe.”

As I began building my fall capsule wardrobe, I thought it might be helpful to share 10 of the pieces that I found were a MUST when I thought about the pieces I wanted to keep on hand. Trying to stick to a more intentional wardrobe, I found that I had more pieces that I wanted to wear multiple ways, versus having 20 sweaters and a million pairs of jeans.

As you build your dream wardrobe, I want to encourage you and remind you of something important! The important thing about capsule wardrobes that you should remember…these are personal wardrobes built with intentionality. My must-have pieces might not be the same as yours, but use these types of articles as a guide as you build your dream wardrobe. If you work in a corporate office, likely you’ll find pieces that are less casual than mine; if you’re a mom, you might value comfortable pieces more. Always use capsule wardrobe content as inspiration and guides, but there are never, 10 pieces you MUST have in your wardrobe; there isn’t a one-size-fits-all mentality when it comes to each of our wardrobes.

With that being said, here are ten items I have curated that are a must in my personal fall capsule wardrobe!

  1. Black turtleneck tee. I love the cozy feeling of a turtleneck tee, and this one is great for layering.

  2. Plaid blazer. I love Madewell for great quality, classic pieces that I will wear for seasons to come! This plaid blazer is so lovely - and I know I will be wearing mine on repeat.

  3. The perfect denim. I have found my favorite denim for my wardrobe - and quickly got rid of my hoards of jeans in exchange for this 90s style mom jean in a few washes. I love that I found something I truly enjoy wearing and it helped me to pair down on the wardrobe.

  4. White sneakers. This pair of white sneakers is one that I have been wearing on repeat. I plan to wear them until they fall apart!

  5. Suede moto jacket. This is a splurge item, but I found mine on Poshmark. I think this is a classic style that isn’t going anywhere - plus suede is so great for fall/winter!

  6. Denim boiler suit. I wore this so much last fall/winter, so I know it will be a favorite again. I love jumpsuits for all seasons - but especially cooler months.

  7. Black graphic tee. I wear graphic tees quite often, and this black one is distressed and perfect for fall. I love it worn with leggings, jeans, bike shorts, etc.

  8. Leather trousers. While leather is trending as a very popular material for garments this fall, I think highlighting it in classic silhouettes like these trousers is a great way to make sure it is a style you can wear season after season.

  9. Linen tunic blouse. Since it is always so warm in Texas, I wanted to find some blouses that were pretty and felt like fall, but wouldn’t be thick chunky sweaters that aren’t practical for the weather here.

  10. My trusty wide brim hat. Y’all probably know, but this is my go-to accessory, no matter the season. So, I of course had to include it in this list!
