Caprock Canyons Camping
There’s something special about getting outdoors and enjoying what the earth has to offer.
The fresh, natural air; the natural sounds of the breeze rustling; big skies and stars; leaves crunching, and the crackle of a campfire.
This trip to Caprock Canyons was all of this - and more; in a time where we found ourselves either stuck in our small Dallas apartment in this pandemic season, we took to the outdoors for a long weekend. I’m always grateful for the time away from the city and the chance to recharge and get refreshed. With hardly any cell phone service, we were able to unplug, enjoy being together.
Home to the second largest canyon system in the United States (after the Grand Canyon), Caprock Canyons is a surprising find in the panhandle of Texas. We enjoyed our long weekend - plenty of hiking, exploring and we were thrilled that our dogs could join us, too. We cooked foil dinners, made s’mores, and drank hot cocoa each morning - reminiscent of my childhood days backpacking and camping with my family.
If you ever find yourself in the panhandle of Texas - be sure you visit Caprock Canyons, and enjoy a beautiful, unexpected spot in the Lone Star State - and take some red dirt and great memories with you.
